Judith Michael Fouladi

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Admitted to the State Bar of California in 1985 and to the United States District Court (Central District of California), Ms. Fouladi's area of practice is in litigation – both civil and criminal. With respect to civil, Ms. Fouladi's experience is in class action cases, Labor Code disputes, insurance disputes (bad faith and coverage) and complex civil. She has served as general corporate for small businesses, including representing officers and directors. With respect to criminal matters, Ms. Fouladi handles all aspects of a criminal proceeding (both misdemeanor and felony charges), from arraignment through trial, sentencing and post-sentencing issues (such as probation violation hearings and expungements). Prior to joining BMKA in 2007, Ms. Fouladi exclusively focused in the area of criminal defense litigation as a sole practitioner. She commenced her career in 1986 as a deputy public defender at the Orange County Public Defender's office. With extensive litigation and law and motion experience, Ms. Fouladi has tried numerous bench and jury trials.

Ms. Fouladi has been trying jury and bench trials since 1986 and has considerable litigation and law and motion experience.

PERSONAL

Ms. Fouladi has served on a number of non-profit boards of directors, including an elected position to a municipal association. She serves a s a fee arbitrator for the Orange County Bar Association, arbitrating attorney/client fee disputes. She is a past president of the South Orange County Bar Association, and has served as a Board member for the Orange County Bar Association and the National Association of Women Business Owners. She has chaired and MC'd large fundraising and community events in Orange County, and for several years appeared as the Orange County Newschannel's legal analyst and commentator.

Currently, Ms. Fouladi is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Newport-Harbor Bar Association, the Orange County Women Lawyers' Association, the Orange County Criminal Defense Bar Association, and the California Public Defenders' Association. Additional memberships are with the State Bar of California's Business Law section, the OCBA's Business and Corporations section and the Civil Litigation section.

Recently, Ms. Fouladi was appointed by the State Bar of California's Board of Governors to serve as an alternate commissioner on the Judicial Nominations and Evaluation (JNE) Commission, beginning with the 2011 term. The JNE commission is charged by Government Code Sec. 12011.5 with conducting confidential evaluations of all persons whose names have been submitted to it by the Governor as potential judicial appointees. It is comprised of 34 commissioners throughout California and is charged with providing independent, comprehensive, accurate and fair evaluations of candidates for judicial appointment and nomination.
